As a professional technical writer for over 5 years and someone who has written academic papers in mathematics and computational chemistry, I strongly disagree with this.

All writing is creative. All writing requires a voice. And technical writing needs it just as much as other kinds of writing.

I’m really curious to know what led you to the conclusion that having a unique voice as a technical writer is considered a bad thing.
